Cardiopulmonary Services
Lutheran Downtown Hospital offers targeted outpatient rehabilitation for patients with heart, lung or peripheral artery disease (PAD), as well as for patients who are recovering from COVID. Each supervised exercise program helps increase tolerance and mobility, reduce the risks of complications and hospitalization and improve overall health through a combination of:
- Medical evaluation
- Prescribed exercise
- Recommended lifestyle changes
- Education and support
Program Details
All of Lutheran Downtown Hospital's specially designed rehab services include:
- One-on-one preprogram evaluation
- Ongoing medical evaluations while in therapy
- Three monitored, one-hour exercise sessions per week for up to 12 weeks
- Warm-up, cardiovascular exercise, strength training and cool down
- Supervised by an exercise physiologist, who monitors EKG, blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturations
- Condition-specific education and support
Cardiopulmonary and PAD rehabilitation are covered by most insurance companies, including Medicare, when ordered within one year of a qualifying diagnosis. A physician's order is required.
