Emanuel E. Nearing II, M.D.*
Emanuel E. Nearing II, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained physician with the Lutheran Downtown Hospital bariatric surgery program. Dr. Nearing earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School and completed his surgical residency at the Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He also completed a bariatric and minimally invasive surgery fellowship at Gundersen Health System in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Kanika Jaggi, M.D., ABOM**
Kanika Jaggi, M.D., ABOM, is a board-certified obesity medicine specialist and the medical director of Lutheran Health Network Weight Management. She earned her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and completed her residency in family and community medicine at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
Dr. Jaggi also completed a fellowship in obesity medicine, a specialty dedicated to managing weight loss and any chronic health conditions related to obesity. She became a member of the weight management team in early 2021 and plays a key role in each patient's success throughout the weight-loss journey.

Nathan Nicola, NP-C
Nathan Nicola, NP-C, is a board-certified nurse practitioner delivering patient-centered family care. He also specializes in obesity medicine and manages patients’ weight loss and related health conditions as a member of the Lutheran Health Network Weight Management team.
Nicola earned his bachelor’s degree in biology, his master’s degree in nursing and his family nurse practitioner graduate certificate from the University of Toledo. He is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
