CT Scan
To schedule a CT scan, call (833) 546-4968, option 2, then option 1.
A CT (computed tomography) scan combines X-ray and computer technology to show highly detailed, 3D images of any part of the body, including bones, muscles, fat, organs and blood vessels. Scans can also be performed using a contrast solution (either swallowed or injected) to make tissues and vessels more visible.
Lutheran Downtown Hospital offers a range of advanced CT-guided techniques that doctors use in both diagnosis and interventional radiology treatments, including:
- Biopsies and abscess drainages
- CT angiography/arteriography
- CT radiation therapy planning
- Image-guided surgeries and pre-surgical planning
- Myelography (spine imaging with contrast solution)
The CT scanner at Lutheran Downtown Hospital can calculate and adjust the amount of radiation needed for certain exams based on the patient’s size.
CT Lung Cancer Screenings
A CT lung cancer screening is a low-dose scan that can detect lung cancer in its earliest stages, when it is easiest to treat. CT lung cancer screens are quick and easy. No medications, needles, food restrictions or patient gowns are required.
CT Cardiac Calcium Scan
Cardiac calcium scoring is a simple scan of the arteries surrounding the heart - no injections, stress tests or medication necessary. The scan provides your physician with two key pieces of information: the presence or absence of coronary calcium in your heart and the degree of calcification in your heart. Based on the findings and other risk factors, your physician may make recommendations concerning lifestyle changes, medication or the need for additional cardiac testing.
